Product Review:

Based on the intensive RnD about the different branches of medicine dispenser products, we reached the detailed insights which will drive us to create a prototype of our product covering all the needs of our checklist.

Frequency of Doses:

Based on the research and insights, the frequency of doses varies from person to person. For example, some elderly people have doses thrice a day, or maybe thrice a week. Some elderly people have to take multiple pills at the same time, which is also quite difficult for them to remind which pills to take at a particular time.

So taking into the consideration of variance in the frequency in the doses, we have to incorporate an optimum design into consideration for our product.

Taking an example from our research, the features incorporated in the above three products satisfy the need of the people who have multiple frequencies of doses in a day or a week.
Hence getting a design insight from the above products of how we can incorporate multiple compartments or sub-sections in our single product, satisfying the needs of people with multiple frequencies of doses.

Cost-Effective:

One of the major concerns the elderly people in India face is the costs of these integrated products. The following are some of the examples with highly integrated functioning but not affordable by the general elderly community in India.
The above examples show a sudden rise in price due to the incorporation of some technological advancements which are not affordable at such price by Indian elderly people, and even some of the technical aspects are quite paradoxical for them.
Hence the main concern rises here is to check out the price of different technological advancements in each of the products, and to reach an optimistic stage where the particular technical feature is also quite efficient and the price is also negotiable.

Easy to Carry (Familiar Design):

One of the important observations we have found that the above pictures of the products shown have designs which are very alienated when seen from the perspective of an elderly person. Hence it will be quite a drastic change for them to have the dispensers of such designs from which they have to take out their medicine. The following are some of the designs which seem to be familiar and also easy to carry for the elderly community.

We will be mostly moving towards the materials for the body of the product, which will be quite cheaper and durable to optimize its cost.

Size:

The size of the medicine case is to be optimized in terms of easy to use, easy to carry, and durable. It depends on how many pills one buys in bulk according to the doses. Thus large-sized bottles will not be effective to store the small number of pills. Hence we have to maintain flexibility in the size of the pillboxes or the product we are going to make so that it can store a certain generalized amount of doses for a significant amount of time.

Materials to be used:

Different kinds of materials will be used in the final product according to the features and need to be incorporated.
  1. Light-Weight materials such as plastic for the main body of the product, but should be sturdy and should not break easily.
  2. Bottlecap with proper packing materials to preserve the medicines for a long time.
  3. The electronic materials used to incorporate the reminder alarm in our product.

High volume alarms for elderly people:

Undertaking the case of most of the elderly people have lack of ability to hear, hence to remind them with an alarm of our product, we have to use more louder alarms in our product which can keep then remind about their doses on their daily basis.

Easy to use Technical Advancements:

Since the people for whom we are making our product are not much into this technical world and not used to some advanced things like some elderly people still don't have smartphones as they used to find it difficult to use them. Hence the features which we will incorporate in our product like alarms, so the elderly people should not find any difficulty in setting the alarms for the reminders of their doses so that they can use the product easily. Hence we will not go deep into some more functions in our product but will optimize among needful features and the ease to use that feature in our product.
